I have been suspecting and too scared to look calmly for about 3 weeks now but it really is true. From 18 chicks I have 4 hens and 14 roosters. Not sure what to do. I have a list of very patient people waiting for hens (and 1 rooster). and I really want to keep one of the hens (and 1 rooster) for my breeding program, so that leaves 3 hens ready for new homes. Risk of nature... O

I love reading your blog. It's so sweet to see the progress of your chook rearing. Watching my bantams hatched from your hens eggs has been such fun. My two boys even though was not planning to keep roosters have the most gorgeous personalities and are making great pets. My big boy has been trying to train ME to come out and give treats when he calls which I have cottoned on to and now wait till all is quite...THEN treats can come out.. :-) bird brain... no way..
