Wow, we put an add on Gumtree last night and 9 young roosters are all gone within a day. 2 went to a family to breed with their Old English Bantams. That should produce some really lovely crosses. 5 went to a great couple to share among their family. It sounds like a baby animal petting farm - crazy fun! And 2 to some local breeders. I hope they all go well and that little Pretzel turns stays a hen for someone. Pretzel looked just like a pretzel when she/he was born, we had to help her out of the egg as it was all too much excitement and she was too tired to do it on her own. She/he is still small and I am really not sure if she is a hen or he is a rooster. Hopefully she/he will do well in her new home.

Jasmine is back from Wembly Primary. She had 6 lovely little chicks and many admirers. It was a very successful experiment. Hopefully we can repeat it next year.
Eustace has found a new family. I hope he will be be happy with you Suzie and do all the right things! It sounds like a wonderful place with a lovely variety of chooks. We have sold a few chicks and have a few hens on waiting lists so we only have eggs for sale and roosters available free now. Maybe more in Feb but not really sure at the moment. JoJo would like some more eggs to hatch but it is too close to Christmas now so I have taken the nesting boxes out overnight and hopefully she will forget about it soon. Jasmine is on a visit to Wembley Primary so the grade 4 students can watch as her chicks are born. There are 7 eggs and the chicks are due Wed 7th and the eggs are peeping wildly so all looking good so far. I hope some students add some comments here....
Josephine has 7 new little chicks, they were all very strong and we didn't have to help any hatch. 1 of the 8 eggs did nothing and wasn't fertile when I had a final look. We should have candled they to check earlier - I always say that but never get around to it. Josephine is a much better mother than Beatrix and has been busy showing the chicks how to eat their weetbix. This batch has 6 little light brown chicks and 2 golden yellow. I wonder if any will be as light as Josephine?
