Hi from Violet Town.... Most of our hens have been at my mother's place in the country since mid November when we went on the Great Vic Bike ride. We also had so many hatchings that I lost count of the number of chicks - it has been a crazy couple of months, all the chooks are mixed up and some of them even I can't tell apart! Bobby is in town and Colin has moved to the country since he has decided to take over and be the head rooster. Colin has been giving Bobby a hard time so they can't live together any more. We are planning to on holidays for the last couple of weeks of January and my mother is moving off the farm at the end of February so now is a good time to downsize. Bobby is free to a good home if you would like him. He is a beautiful rooster - darker colouring, large wonderful shape, very quiet and a real gentleman. He is able to service up to 5 hens and will produce lovely chicks. We have a couple of little girls still available - they must have been hiding in the daisy bush when I collected all the pullets in December and I missed them. They are between 6 and 10 weeks old. We also need to find homes for some older ladies - most of them are around 4 years old so should live another 4-5 years. They are all healthy and are still laying. I'll keep the grandmas because I couldn't part with my old girls. For the first time we are offering a Clucky Chook Package - a hen and 8 fertile eggs to hatch, along with detailed instructions and of course you can always email me for some advice and I do want to hear how it all works out. Have a look at the For Sale page for more details... I'm off to the garden to take some photos before I make some more updates to these pages this evening.... best wishes and happy chooking, Rosemerry

Odette (b Oct 2012) Odette has grown into a buff laced hen with a golden collar, I have no idea where this colouring comes from but it is beautiful. Very sweet natured and very, very tame.
Odette has been sold with some eggs to hatch and raise with a new family. |
